What is botanical medicine?
Botanical medicine is the use of herbs and plants to treat diseases, promote healing, and prevent illness.
The therapeutic properties of plants come from chemical compounds that are found in leaves, roots, flowers, berries, seeds or bark. Herbal medicines are prepared from these parts and can be used internally in the form of capsules, tablets, powders, herbal extracts, tinctures, teas or fresh plants. They can also be used topically in the form of oils, creams or salves.
Botanical treatments can be helpful on their own or in combination with other therapies. They can be prepared as single herbs or a combination of herbs, depending on your specific needs.
